Osun State Government Extends Gratitude to World Bank for Contributions to Community Development

The participation of the World Bank in community development in Osun State has been acknowledged and appreciated by the state government.

Emphasizing that the main objective of governance is to address the challenges faced by the people and bridge the gaps between urban and rural communities, the commendation was highlighted in a keynote address by the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, during the 2023 community development celebration held in Osogbo on Thursday.

Representing the governor, his deputy, Kola Adewusi, expressed gratitude to the World Bank and Nigeria CARES for their collaboration with the state government.

He also congratulated Osun CSDA for its accomplishments and the organization of the event.

Expressing encouragement for greater support to the agency, he recognized the support from the World Bank and Nigeria CARES and extended his appreciation to the leaders of these organizations.

Adeleke urged the communities to continue supporting the government and encouraged them to prioritize peaceful coexistence.

He emphasized that community development involves empowerment that is locally driven and requires active involvement of stakeholders.

Ganiyu Olaoluwa, the Commissioner for Rural Development and Community Affairs, highlighted the Adeleke administration’s reduction of the hardship faced by the people in the state during its first year.

He urged the people to think of ways to collectively develop the state.

In her welcome address, Aderonke Funmi Abokede, the General Manager of Osun State Community and Social Development Agency (Osun CSDA), stated that Adeleke has delivered on his five-point development agenda.
