The Nigeria Federal Government has announced the delivery of seven new power transformers at the Akangba 330/132kV transmission substation to enhance electricity supply. This was revealed by Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager of Public Affairs at Transmission Company of Nigeria, in a statement on Thursday.

The transformers, with capacities ranging from 60MVA to 100MVA, are part of the ongoing TCN/World Bank Power projects and are set to benefit substations in Alausa, Akoka, Itire, and Amuwo in Lagos State.

The statement disclosed that the Akangba 330/132kV Transmission Substation recently received seven new power transformers and their accessories. These transformers will be distributed to various substations, and some substations will receive multiple transformers.

The installation of these transformers is expected to significantly increase the company’s transmission capacity. The TCN/World Bank Project is part of the Nigeria Electricity Transmission Project (NETAP), which began in 2017 and aims to address power supply challenges in the country.
