EPL: Ratcliffe told first signing to make for Man Utd

Joshua Kimmich has been proposed as the ideal first signing to kickstart Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s tenure at Manchester United, according to former Red Devils striker Dimitar Berbatov.

The Ineos Group chairman, who recently acquired a 25% stake in the club, is poised to inject approximately £236 million into the team and is set to take control of player recruitment at Old Trafford.

Berbatov opined that recruiting Bayern Munich’s captain, Kimmich, would be an astute move for United under the ownership of Ineos.

Speaking to Betfair, Berbatov pondered on the club’s approach in the transfer market with the takeover and raised the possibility of pursuing Kimmich as a replacement for the injured and out-of-form Casemiro.

He commented, “Kimmich is someone who fits perfectly in that position, but does he want to leave Bayern? That’s going to be a tough decision.”
