Prof. Oby Lilian Orogbu
Within her first six months in office, Prof. Oby Orogbu, the lawmaker representing Awka North/South federal constituency at the House of Representatives, has made significant strides in empowering over 200 households in her constituency. Her focus is on liberating the vulnerable people, especially the women in Anambra State.

During the festival of songs of nine lessons and carol called ‘Awka North/South Unity Carol of Nine Lessons’ in Awka, the state capital, Orogbu shared her commitment to her constituents. She emphasized that her efforts are part of her responsibilities to alleviate hunger and other societal challenges in Awka North and South.

She expressed, “My interest in joining politics is to assist my sister, Senator Uche Ekwunufe, to liberate our people from unwanted hunger and other challenges in the society. Within my six months in office, I have helped over 200 households in my constituency. As it stands now, I have submitted 2,000 names of people from the constituency that would be receiving N25,000 monthly stipends each from the Federal Government Cash Transfer programme.

Orogbu made it clear that her support extends across political, ethnic, and religious affiliations within the constituency, encompassing Yorubas, Hausas, Calabaris, and members of other political parties.

She also urged Labour Party supporters to commence mobilization of members in their respective wards ahead of the 2025 governorship election in the state, while sharing an admonishment about the essence of Christmas being God’s demonstration of infinite love for mankind. She reiterated that God is with everyone who is living according to divine principles.

The event was also attended by Senator Victor Umeh, the Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Valentine Ozigbo, the lawmaker representing Awka South state constituency 1 in the state House of Assembly, Henry Mbachu, and others.
