Driver docked for allegedly stabbing man with broken bottle



The alleged stabbing incident involving a 30-year-old businessman, Francis Elijah, was presented before a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court. Elijah, who resides in the Ungwan Pama area of Kaduna, is accused of assaulting a man by stabbing him with a broken bottle on December 26 along Ahmad Bello Way, Kaduna. According to the Prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo, the defendant unlawfully assaulted Blessed David by using a broken bottle to stab him in the head and face.

Leo stated that the defendant was involved in a physical altercation with a tricycle driver, and when Blessed David attempted to intervene, Elijah redirected his aggression towards him. It was reported that the defendant also pushed the complainant into a gutter, resulting in a dislocated ankle.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge during the court proceedings. In response, the Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, granted bail to the defendant in the amount of N200,000, requiring two sureties in a similar sum. The sureties must be employed and able to provide evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Kaduna State Government.

The case was adjourned until the 27th for further hearing.
