Teriba lauded the 2024 appropriation bill presented by the Governor to the state House of Assembly, emphasizing the credibility it demonstrates. He also urged the state government to optimize and enhance fee-rent-based revenue generation by making collections of its assets, in collaboration with the Economic Intelligence Department.
Additionally, Prof. Adeola Adenikinju, the President of the Nigerian Economic Society, praised the state government for the proposed bill’s indicator, which shows that almost half of the spending is coming from Internally Generated Revenue. He also commended the significant ratio between the capital budgets and recurrent budgets, highlighting that very few states in the country have taken such actions.
During a presentation, Dr Femi Sabiu, a professor of Economics at the University of Lagos, urged the state government to prioritize and focus on realistic sectors, pointing specifically to the agricultural sector as one that requires more attention.
