The All Progressives Congress in Ogun State has urged Oladipupo Adebutu, the 2023 governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, to surrender himself to the authorities to face the vote-buying and money laundering charges against him. The party’s Assistant Publicity Secretary, Olusola Blessed, issued a statement in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, on Tuesday.

According to the statement, Adebutu left the country under suspicious circumstances after being invited by the Criminal Investigation Department of the police in Abeokuta to respond to allegations of conspiracy, electoral offenses, and money laundering. The party also mentioned that some members/agents of his party had already been charged to court for their involvement in the alleged offenses.

The Ogun APC welcomed Adebutu back to the country and urged him to face the allegations against him. The party stated that the trial for the vote-buying and money laundering charges against the already arraigned members of the PDP will resume in February 2024 before the Ogun State High Court.

Afolabi Orekoya, the media aide to Adebutu, was unavailable for a response at the time of this report.
