PDP holds primary January 8

The date for the primary of the Peoples Democratic Party has been set for January 8, 2024. The primary is for the upcoming by-elections scheduled for February 2024. The party’s National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, announced the timetable and schedule of activities for the primaries.

The period for the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms is slated for Dec. 28, 2023, to January 3, 2024. The by-elections will be held in various districts and constituencies across different states.

Aspirants’ screening is scheduled for Jan. 4, 2024, with the appeal for party primaries taking place on Jan. 9, 2024. The deadline for submitting candidates’ names to the INEC nomination portal is Jan. 12, while the nomination of party agents must be completed by Jan. 20, 2024.

The expression of interest form for the Senate and House of Representatives is set at N500,000 each, while the nomination form costs N3 million and N2 million, respectively. For the House of Assembly, the expression of interest form is priced at N100,000, and the nomination form at N600,000.

Female aspirants and Persons Living with Disabilities are only required to pay for expression of interest forms, whereas youths below 40 years can purchase Expression of Interest forms with a 50% discount on nomination forms.
