Reports from NewsNow reveal that the armed assaults led to more than 100 deaths in 12 communities in Bokkos local government area, with additional coordinated attacks in three communities in Barkin Ladi LGA, the home of the Plateau State Polytechnic, resulting in over 17 casualties.

Survivors’ testimonies suggest that herders were responsible for the attacks, displacing thousands of settlers and causing extensive property damage running into millions of naira.

A statement released on Tuesday by Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, affirmed:

“President Bola Tinubu strongly condemns the heinous and brutal attacks in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State, which resulted in the tragic loss of many lives.

“President Tinubu directs security agencies to immediately move in, scour every stretch of the zone, and apprehend the culprits.

“The President also directs immediate mobilisation of relief resources for surviving victims of the primitive and cruel attacks as well as a medical treatment for the wounded.”

Extending condolences to the government and people of Plateau State, Tinubu assured Nigerians that “these envoys of death, pain, and sorrow will not escape justice.”
