Calabar Kidnap Suspects Arrested by Police

Confirmation has been made by the Cross River State Police Command regarding the apprehension of two individuals from a four-member kidnapping syndicate.

SP Irene Ugbo, the police spokesperson, affirmed the arrest and disclosed that the gang was responsible for abducting the wife of a well-known vehicle dealer in Calabar. The victim was released subsequent to the payment of a ransom, as communicated by Ugbo.

Ugbo also mentioned that the captured suspects have provided confessional statements to the police and will be prosecuted once the investigation is finalized.

“The pair’s luck ran out as the police successfully traced the owner of the bank account that received the ransom. Unbeknownst to the suspects, they were under surveillance. We are pleased that two out of four have been apprehended,” she emphasized.

Local-made pistols, ammunition, phones, and various valuable items were seized from the suspects, as detailed by Ugbo.

She cautioned the public against sharing their bank details with others, citing the potential for fraudulent or illicit activities.
