Anambra pupil wins WASSCE award for visually impaired

Originally from Ihiala in Anambra State, Mbajiorgu is currently a freshman at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, where she is pursuing a degree in Guidance and Counseling.

She excelled in all nine subjects she took.

At 21 years old, Mbajiorgu lost her sight in 2008 to glaucoma while in her final year of primary school in Awada, near Onitsha.

This led to her losing some years while adapting to her new condition and learning how to use the Braille machine for reading.

An excited Mbajiorgu, who aspires to be an academic, dedicated her award from WAEC to the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for his dedication to quality education and his efforts in empowering physically challenged individuals.

“Professor Soludo cares for everyone, and he is not only intelligent but also extremely focused,” she stated.
