President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has set a goal of generating one million jobs for Nigerians through the National Talent Export Programme.

During the closing ceremony of NATEP 2023 in Abuja, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Doris Uzoka-Anite, revealed that the government is striving to achieve this target within four years.

She highlighted the implementation of the National Artisan Registration and Development Programme (NARDEP) as one of the initiatives aimed at imparting necessary technical and vocational skills. NARDEP also involves certifying Nigerian artisans in accordance with global best practices and facilitating their placement in internship programs with industry partners.

According to her, “NARDEP will drive the realization of the National Talent Export Programme (NATEP), which is expected to create one million service export jobs over the next five years, increase foreign exchange earnings and revenue for Nigeria, stimulate the growth of related industries and support services, and improve skills, among other benefits.”

In his speech during the presentation of the 2024 27.5 trillion budget at the National Assembly, Tinubu reiterated job creation as one of his priorities.
