Revocation of 1,633 Mining Licences by FG

During a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, made the announcement.
According to Alake, the failure to pay the mandatory annual service fees of N1,500 per cadastral unit led to the revocation of licenses for the mineral title holders.
He stated, “The Mining Cadastre Office has recommended the revocation of 1,633 mineral titles, comprising 536 Exploration Licences, 279 Quarry Licences, 787 Small Scale Mining Licences, and 31 Mining Leases.”
Under the powers vested in him by the NMMA 2007, Section 5 (a), the Minister approved the revocation of these 1,633 titles.
