Benedict Ademoye, the Chairperson of the Local Government Pensioners Association of Nigeria in Ogun State, has announced that the gratuities of 564 local government retirees have been paid by the state government.

In a statement released on Thursday, Ademoye expressed that the assistance provided by Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration has significantly improved the living conditions of local government pensioners, reducing the mortality rate resulting from the inability to afford medical care.

The LOGPAN chairman also disclosed that the governor recently allocated N1.9 billion, which was utilized to settle the gratuities of 369 retired local government employees.

Ademoye remarked, “It is important to acknowledge the unwavering support of Governor Dapo Abiodun towards the local government pensioners. Within the past year, a total of 564 local government pensioners have received their full gratuity payments.

“The most recent allocation of N1.9 billion for the settlement of outstanding gratuities benefited 369 local government pensioners, marking a pivotal moment for us.

“Funds were disbursed to pensioners facing medical challenges from their pending gratuity payments. Notably, in the past year, there has been no demise among pensioners associated with our organization due to the lack of financial resources for medical expenses.”
