HIV/AIDS Reaches Endemic Stage in Nigeria

During a press briefing in Abuja to announce the three-day National Training of Trainers on WHO-approved Standard Q HIV 1& 2 Rapid Test Kit in Nigeria, Bashorun explained the classifications of disease outcomes. He stated that HIV/AIDS is now considered endemic, similar to Malaria, meaning that it is a persistent presence in the population.
Bashorun emphasized the importance of regular HIV/AIDS testing and encouraged Nigerians to know their status, highlighting the availability of treatments to manage the disease.
Regarding the training, he mentioned that it aims to ensure the proper usage of the product and monitor its performance and operational effectiveness in the field. The training will result in the additional training of over 900 testers across the 774 LGAs through regional training in all six geopolitical zones of Nigeria, commencing on Thursday, November 23, 2023, in Abuja.
