Tinubu, German Chancellor discuss power, rail

He also expressed interest in the ultra-high-speed rail network that Siemens is constructing in Egypt and discussed the potential role of Siemens in modernizing and expanding Nigeria’s rail network with ultra-modern trains and railways.
The German Chancellor expressed readiness to support these initiatives, but acknowledged the need to address administrative and financial challenges stemming from previous administrations. He emphasized the importance of taking follow-up actions and making progress on the power project for further collaboration in the railway plans.
Tinubu also urged the German business community to focus on value-additive processing in Nigerian solid minerals, agricultural goods, automobile production, and other job-creating sub-sectors. He assured the Chancellor of ongoing business environment reforms in Nigeria.
The leaders agreed to deepen collaboration on advanced biometric systems, border control technology, and investments in labor-intensive industries to address irregular migration. Tinubu also exchanged views with the German Head of State and Federal President, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, before attending the Compact with Africa Summit of Heads of State and Government.
