Maigari defended the agency’s actions, citing Section 40 of the Act, which purportedly permits the use of generated revenue for various projects. He disclosed that the agency had generated N2,492,996,588.13 in 2023, all of which had been expended on different projects.
However, the Chairman of the Committee, James Faleke, criticized Maigari’s stance, highlighting the inconsistency with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution. Faleke questioned the agency’s expenditure of the entire generated amount, equating it to the government creating a personal benefit for Maigari and his family.
As a result, the Committee called for a status inquiry into the agency’s activities from its establishment to date. It is important to note that President Bola Tinubu had submitted the 2024/2026 MTEF to the National Assembly for approval.
