Addressing journalists after a courtesy visit to Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Disu emphasized that the preliminary investigation indicated no attempt on the life of Ehie. He clarified that the police officers on patrol on Sunday night were engaged in a routine assignment and stated that the command has been trying to reach out to the factional Speaker for more information about the alleged assassination.
Disu urged anyone with complaints to contact him directly, reassuring that he would promptly address their concerns. He emphasized that there was no cause for concern based on the investigations conducted so far.
The recent political events in Rivers State, including the fire incident that destroyed the Rivers State House of Assembly complex, the suspension of Ehie and four other members of the House, the failed impeachment of Governor Fubara, and the emergence of Ehie as the factional Speaker of the House, have caused tension in the region.
These events have been linked to the fallout between Nyesom Wike, the former governor of the state who is now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Governor Fubara, his protege.
