NSCDC officers intervened when Damilare was caught in the act and on the verge of being attacked by a mob. He was handed over to the NSCDC for investigation and prosecution. After a detailed investigation and confession by Damilare, the state Commandant directed that he should be promptly charged to court.
Damilare was brought before an Isabo Magistrate Court and pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing. He was then sentenced to six months imprisonment or a fine of N150,000. This legal action was supported by a fiat from the Attorney General of Ogun State authorizing the NSCDC to prosecute the case.
NSCDC boss revealed that Damilare was charged with the theft before the Abeokuta Magistrate Court 1 on November 17, 2023, and was found guilty. He was subsequently sentenced to six months imprisonment or a N150,000 fine by Magistrate E. O Idowu.
