Troops from the 29 Task Force Brigade, under the leadership of the Brigade Commander, are carrying out a fighting patrol in the area to track down the perpetrators of the attack. The military MRAP and a civilian escort vehicle, both targeted during the incident, have been safely retrieved to the military camp at Benisheikh.
Efforts are ongoing to locate and eliminate the terrorists responsible for the ambush in which the governor’s convoy was attacked on its way back to Damaturu from Maiduguri, amidst which the governor himself was not present. Fortunately, the Secretary to the State Government and other senior government officials in the convoy emerged unscathed.
