The retreat, themed “Creating Resilient Economy through Diversification of the Nation’s Revenue,” was opened by Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who emphasized the need for economic diversification in light of challenges faced by the country.
According to Edun, the government is committed to ensuring that the economy rebounds from its current challenges and achieves inclusive economic growth and development, despite the hardships experienced by Nigerians. Palliative measures have been implemented to mitigate the unintended economic consequences of ongoing reforms.
Governor Oborevwori, represented by his deputy, Monday Onyeme, stressed the urgency of economic diversification to address the impact of factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic, high inflation, macroeconomic instability, foreign exchange rate volatility, and the transition to renewable energy. He emphasized that the country must urgently diversify its economy for sustainable economic growth and to secure the future for generations to come.
