Wike: My Political Relevance Depends on My Base

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), emphasized the importance of his political base in maintaining his political relevance.
Wike stated that losing his base as a politician equates to losing his political significance, regardless of any accusations made against him.
During a meeting with South-South leaders in his office in Abuja on Tuesday, Wike stressed the necessity of doing what is right.
In Wike’s words: “All of us aspire to be politically relevant and to maintain our political structure.
“Isn’t it your political structure? Would you let anyone simply remove you from it? Everyone has a base. If you take away my base, am I not rendered politically irrelevant?”
It is believed that Wike’s relationship with Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara, has deteriorated, resulting in some lawmakers from the Rivers State House of Assembly initiating impeachment proceedings against Fubara.
These lawmakers are said to be loyal to Wike.
