In the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, Arsenal suffered a 3-1 defeat against West Ham at the London Stadium.

An own goal by Ben White, who headed the ball past Aaron Ramsdale, opened the scoring for West Ham. Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen secured the victory with their goals.

West Ham took the lead in the 16th minute from a corner, with Bowen delivering the ball close to Ramsdale. White unintentionally headed it into his own net.

Despite complaints from Ramsdale, who had his shirt held by Tomas Soucek, there was no VAR available at this stage of the League Cup to review the incident.

Although Arsenal dominated possession, they failed to score in the first half. Eddie Nketiah wasted their best chance from eight yards after a knockdown by Oleksandr Zinchenko.

West Ham punished Arsenal in the 50th minute when Kudus skillfully controlled Nayef Aguerd’s 50-yard cross-field pass and slotted it low through Gabriel’s legs into the far bottom corner.

Shortly before the hour mark, Bowen sealed West Ham’s victory by volleying in a shot from the edge of the area, with a deflection off Gabriel’s thigh wrongfooting Ramsdale.

With the final kick of the game, Arsenal captain Odegaard placed the ball into the bottom corner, but the Gunners’ 30-year wait to win the League Cup continues. Meanwhile, West Ham is into the last eight for the third consecutive season.
