The United Kingdom Renews Partnership with Nigeria, Says Envoy

The Nigerian Government has renewed its partnership with the United Kingdom (UK), according to the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Dr Richard Montgomery.
Dr Montgomery made this announcement during the opening of a three-day 2023 Cabinet Retreat for Ministers, Presidential Aides, Permanent Secretaries, and Top Government Functionaries.
The retreat, with the theme ‘Delivering on the Renewed Hope Agenda’, was inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu in Abuja on Wednesday.
In his speech, Dr Montgomery praised the “big bold” economic reforms implemented by Tinubu’s administration and acknowledged that Nigeria faces significant security, economic, and social challenges.
He also highlighted the difficult global economy, shifting geopolitical landscape, and foreign policy pressures as major global challenges.
Expressing admiration for Tinubu’s leadership of ECOWAS, his strong advocacy for democracy, and Nigeria’s engagement in the G20, Dr Montgomery emphasized that the UK has renewed its partnership with Nigeria, the Nigerian cabinet, and the Nigerian people.
