The Army commences ‘Exercise Still Water’ to eliminate kidnappers and robbers in Ondo

To prevent criminals from taking advantage of the festive season in Ondo State, the Nigerian Army has launched an operation called ‘Exercise Still Water’.

This field training exercise aims to eradicate kidnappers, armed robbers, and other criminals from the state, while also identifying their hideouts.

Speaking at the commencement of the exercise in Owo, the headquarters of the Owo Local Government Area, Brigadier General Muktar Adamu, Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade in the state, emphasized that the operation will effectively tackle various criminal activities including drug trafficking, armed banditry, and cultism.

He further explained that the exercise is crucial in curbing crimes during the upcoming Yuletide season and simulating tactical operations.

“All criminals within the jurisdiction of the 32 Artillery Brigade are advised to desist from their unlawful activities or face severe legal consequences,” warned Colonel Jibril Garba, who represented Brigadier General Adamu as the garrison commander.

Adamu appealed to other security agencies, traditional rulers, and community leaders to collaborate by providing credible information about security concerns, ultimately ensuring the safety of the state.

“As we enter the ’ember months’, which historically witness increased criminal activities, it is essential to implement effective measures to combat and reduce crime within the Brigade’s area of operation,” he added.
