Rescued Prostitutes Share Their Ordeal: Sleeping with 10 Men Daily

A number of young girls who were rescued from a brothel have come forward with allegations that they were forced to sleep with a minimum of 10 men each day by their managers.
Out of the group of 29 girls, including two underage individuals, it was revealed that the motive behind their exploitation was to generate profits for the brothel owner.
Officials from the Anambra State Ministry of Women Affairs and the Anambra State Police Command intervened and rescued the girls in Oba, Idemili North Local Government Area.
The girls disclosed, “Every morning, we are given 500 for our meals, but afterwards, we are compelled to engage with men. If we fail to sleep with at least 10 men in a day, we are subjected to physical abuse.”
They continued, “On weekdays, we sometimes earn 4,000, but on weekends, the earnings can reach up to N10,000 or even N15,000. However, the owner of the hotel takes a large portion of the money.”
Ify Obinabo, the Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, confirmed that arrests have been made and assured that justice will be served.
She stated, “Prior to conducting this rescue operation, the ministry conducted an investigation which revealed that the hotel known as ‘Ten Top’ in Oba was involved in human trafficking for prostitution, bringing girls from various parts of the country.”
Obinabo emphasized the state government’s commitment to eradicating child kidnapping, human trafficking, and sex slavery within the state, and urged residents of Anambra to report any suspicious activities in their vicinity for prompt action.
The rescued girls ranged in age from 16 to 24 years old.
In regards to the arrests, Obinabo mentioned that the brothel owner and several other women who lured the girls to the establishment have been apprehended. They will face charges in the Children, Sexual, and Gender-Based Violence Magistrate Court in Awka once the investigations conclude.
