NNPP Emerges Victorious in Court of Appeal, Securing Kumbotso House of Reps Seat

The National and State House of Assembly Tribunal’s ruling on the Kano House of Representatives election for Kumbotso Federal Constituency has been nullified by the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal.
The previous verdict had declared Mannir Babba Danagudi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the rightful winner, while stripping Idris Kawu of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) of his elected representative status for Kumbotso Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives.
A three-judge panel, led by Justice Tunji Oyebamuji, delivered a verdict asserting that the lower court had made a legal error by giving priority to the judgement on Idris Kawu’s certificate, even though he failed to present it to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Court of Appeal also ruled that the lower court had made a mistake by relying on subpoenaed witnesses to reach its judgement.
Furthermore, the court upheld that Mannir Babba Danagudi had not provided credible and reliable witnesses to support the overturning of Idris Dankawu’s victory in the Kumbotso Federal Constituency election.
