Meeting Between Fubara, Wike and Tinubu in Aso Villa Amidst Crisis in Rivers

In the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, and his estranged godfather, the incumbent Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, are currently meeting with President Bola Tinubu for the National Police Council meeting.
It is uncertain whether this meeting, attended by several governors, will mend the broken relationship between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Wike.
Among the state governors seen attending the closed-door event are Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), ABDULLAHI Abba (Kano), and Bassey Ottu (Cross River).
Prior to entering the closed door, some governors, including Wike, and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, were seen engaging in conversation, while others exchanged pleasantries.
Subsequently, Wike shook hands with Governor Fubara and briefly exchanged pleasantries after finishing his discussion with the NSA.
This is the first face-to-face meeting between the Rivers State Governor (wearing a white Kaftan) and his estranged godfather, Wike (also seen in a white Kaftan), since the beginning of their conflict.
Recall that the crisis between Fubara and Wike allegedly led to an attempt by 24 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to impeach Governor Fubara. This resulted in unrest within the state on Monday, as the governor’s supporters protested against the plot at the assembly complex.
