Management Confirms 10 OAU Students Still in EFCC Custody

The students were apprehended in their hall of residence, located in Oduduwa Estate along Ibadan/Ife road, in the early hours of Wednesday.
Olanrewaju stated that the released students were handed over to the university management and some of their parents. However, those still detained are believed to have cases to answer.
He said, “We are currently on our way back to Ile-Ife from Ibadan. The students have been released to us (management) and their parents, who were present at the Commission’s office this evening.
“But 10 out of those who were arrested are still being held. We were informed that they have a strong case to answer. Tomorrow, I will provide more details. Thank you.”
Prior to this, a delegation from OAU had visited the EFCC’s Ibadan zonal office to gather information about the individuals arrested in the hostel raid that took place before dawn.
Speaking to NewsNow, Olanrewaju emphasized, “We are aware that some of our students engage in reckless behavior. We are not naïve to the fact that our students may be involved in criminal activities; however, we do not want the innocent ones to suffer.
“As I speak, we are en route to Ibadan to ascertain the exact number of our students who were arrested. We will gather their profiles and report back to the management, and then we will determine our next steps.”
Regarding the situation on campus following the raid, Olanrewaju stated, “Everything is calm. Please note that the students were not arrested on campus; they were arrested at various hostels off campus. Nevertheless, this does not mean we will neglect our students.
“Just because they were arrested off campus does not mean we will remain silent. We are currently heading to the Zonal Office of the agency in Ibadan.”
