Man Paraded by NSCDC for Vandalizing Transformer in Kogi

A man named Sunday Yomi Komolafe, aged 38, has been paraded by the Kogi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for allegedly vandalizing a transformer in Isanlu, Yagba East Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect was apprehended by members of a vigilante group while he was in the act of vandalizing the armoured cable of the transformer that supplies electricity to Amuro and seven other communities in Mopa LGA, stated Ahmad Ghandi Ahmad, the Commandant of NSCDC in Kogi, during the parade held on Wednesday.
The suspect has admitted to the crime and will face charges in court once the investigation is concluded.
Commandant Ahmad appealed to the public for more cooperation and the sharing of information that can help eradicate criminal activities in the state.
During an interview, the suspect, Sunday Yomi Komolafe, who works as a motorcycle mechanic, pleaded for mercy, explaining that he had intended to sell the stolen materials to scavengers.
He also claimed that the 35 liters of petrol in plastic containers found in his possession were meant for cleaning his hands after cutting the cables.
