The State Governor of Rivers, Siminalayi Fubara, has strongly denied the allegations of sacking the State Chief Judge, Justice Simeon Amadi, and his Chief of Staff, Hon. Chidi Amadi.

Additionally, Fubara has dismissed the rumors of suspending the Chairmen of the 23 Local Government Areas.

Speculations have been circulating that these key officials were dismissed amidst the crisis at the State House of Assembly, which aimed to impeach the governor.

Reports claim that Fubara took drastic action against these loyalists of former governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in order to assert his authority.

However, the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Warisenibo Johnson, has released a statement on Tuesday morning denying the reports, labeling them as baseless.

Johnson describes Fubara as a ‘technocrat with a strong civil service background’ and a compassionate individual who follows protocols and acts with integrity.

In the statement titled ‘Baseless Reports’, Johnson states, “There have been unfounded reports circulating on various media platforms regarding His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, dismissing certain categories of his aides and local council chairmen.

“I would like to clarify that, as of today, Tuesday, October 31, 2023, His Excellency has not given me any such directive as the official spokesperson of the state government.

“Our esteemed governor is a technocrat with a strong civil service background, kind-hearted, and a very humane person who follows established rules and acts with integrity.

“Therefore, we urge the people of Rivers and the general public to disregard these unverified reports, as the public will be duly informed about any potential removals by His Excellency at the appropriate time.

“It is important to note that, as the Commissioner for Information and Communication, I will keep the public well-informed about the events in due course.”
