EFCC Bans Nighttime Sting Operations Following Arrest of OAU Students

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has officially prohibited sting operations during nighttime, according to a statement signed by Dele Oyewale, the Head of Media and Publicity, on Wednesday night.
The directive comes as a response to the recent arrest of 69 suspected internet fraudsters in Ile-Ife, Osun State, by EFCC operatives from the Ibadan Zonal Command.
The statement further stated, “In line with the newly-reviewed procedures on arrest and bail of suspects by the EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, the Executive Chairman of the Commission, has instructed that sting operations conducted during nighttime be halted in all EFCC Commands.”
Many of the arrested suspects have already been released, following a thorough profiling process carried out by the Command. The profiling of the remaining unreleased suspects will be completed without delay.
The EFCC emphasizes its commitment to upholding the rule of law in exercising its mandate and assures the public of its continued adherence to legal procedures.
