Big News: EFCC Releases 58 OAU Students from Custody

Multiple sources in Ile-Ife confirmed that around 2 a.m., the officials broke into rooms at the Fine Touch and Superb hostels in Oduduwa Estate, Ile-Ife, and arrested the students.
However, the National Association of University Students (NAUS) condemned the EFCC’s actions.
In a statement signed by the National Director of Security and Safety, Eruobami Ayobami; the Deputy National President, Babalola Daniel; and the Vice Chairman of NAUS in the state, Akinyemi Hammed, the students’ leadership criticized the EFCC’s process and actions, stating, “The security and safety of our students is of utmost importance to us, and the EFCC’s actions are akin to those of a gang of thieves and burglars.”
The EFCC released a statement saying that it had arrested 69 suspected internet fraudsters in Ile-Ife.
“They were arrested on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Oduduwa Estate in Ile-Ife, Osun State, based on credible intelligence regarding their involvement in fraudulent internet-related activities. Oduduwa Estate has been linked to the activities of suspected internet fraudsters,” the EFCC stated.
Eruobami confirmed the release of the students to our correspondent at 8:51 p.m. on Wednesday, stating, “58 students have been released.”
