A’Court upholds Abba Moro’s victory in Benue South Senatorial polls

In the last senatorial election in Benue South, the All Progressives Congress candidate, Dan Onjeh, filed a suit before the Appeal Court in Abuja against the election of Senator Abba Moro. However, the court dismissed the suit on Wednesday.
The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal had already upheld Senator Moro’s victory, as Onjeh failed to provide sufficient evidence to support his case.
Unsatisfied with the judgment, Onjeh appealed to the appellant court, seeking to overturn the lower court’s verdict and be declared the winner of the election.
In delivering the verdict on Wednesday, the court, represented by a three-man panel, stated that Onjeh had not won the election as he claimed.
Additionally, the court rejected Onjeh’s allegation that Senator Moro had forged his birth certificate, emphasizing the principle that “he who asserts must prove.”
