10 OAU students still held by EFCC, Management confirms

The students were arrested in their hall of residence located in Oduduwa Estate along Ibadan/Ife road in the early hours of Wednesday.
Olanrewaju stated that the students who were released have been handed over to the university management and some of their parents, while those remaining in custody have cases to answer.
“We are currently on our way back to Ile-Ife from Ibadan. The students who were released have been handed over to us (the management) and their parents, who were present at the Commission’s office this evening,” Olanrewaju said.
“However, they detained 10 out of those who were arrested, claiming that they have a strong case to answer. I will provide more details about it tomorrow. Thank you.”
Earlier, OAU management had revealed that a delegation from the university had visited the EFCC’s Ibadan zonal office to gather information about those arrested in the raid on some hostels located outside the campus.
Speaking to NewsNow, Olanrewaju emphasized that while they are aware of some students’ recklessness, they do not want the innocent ones to suffer.
“As I am speaking to you now, we are on our way to Ibadan to determine the exact number of our students who were arrested. We will profile them and then report to the management, after which we will decide what to do,” he explained.
Regarding the situation on campus after the raid, Olanrewaju reassured that everything is calm. He clarified that the students were arrested outside the campus and not on campus itself. Nonetheless, the university will still take care of its students.
“Just because they were arrested outside the campus does not mean we will remain silent. We are heading to the EFCC’s Zonal Office in Ibadan,” Olanrewaju concluded.
