How slain DPO Angbashim was tricked to death – Rivers CP Emeka

The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Emeka Nwonyi, has revealed how the slain Divisional Officer of Ahoada, Bako Angbashim, was tricked into death by members of the cult gang who brutally murdered him.
The DPO was killed during a gunfight with a cult gang in Ahoada-East Local Government Area of Rivers State last Friday, September 8.
But he regretted that the cult gang members later launched a deadly attack on the slain DPO and his men.
The CP noted that after killing Angbashim, members of the cult gang dismembered his body and made a video in which they were chanting in triumph that they had finally slain their archenemy and prime target.
“He played to the gallery, only to know in death that these people were rather crafty in their operation and lured him for an onslaught.”
“If you will not take it, was the option of killing this man the best? He has a family, he has children, and he has a wife. No! You have touched the lion’s tail. Those men must be caught to face the wrath of the law.
“We will be unrepentant until we put crime and criminality to its barest minimum in Rivers State.”
“As police officers, if we left our family, our environment, our homes for a state or national duty like this, this is not the best trophy to take home.
“His only call was to come to sanitise society; that you should stop killing your fellow human beings, kidnapping your fellow human beings, destroying people’s property. That was the only crime.”
“It is a very painful time for us in the Command for losing one of our best hands.”
“His killers have touched the Lion’s tales and they must pay,” he said while assuring that the Police remain committed to ensuring justice is done in the killing of SP Bako Angbashim.
Meanwhile, the State Police Command has dismissed as fake an online photo and video indicating that the leader of the Iceland Cult group, Gift David Okpara, alias 2 Baba, had been arrested in Owerri, Imo state capital.
