UNICAL replaces dean of law faculty accused of sexually exploiting students

Prof. Florence Obi, Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar (UNICAL), has granted authorization for the designation of Dr. Rose Ugbe as the Interim Dean of the Faculty of Law.
In an announcement made on Wednesday, Mr. Gabriel Egbe, the University’s Registrar, communicated that Ugbe will assume the role previously held by Prof. Cyril Ndifon. Prof. Ndifon’s suspension was enacted last week in response to allegations primarily centered on authoritative misconduct.
These allegations include allegations of inappropriate conduct towards female students and various other breaches of protocol.
NAN reports that a seven-man panel had already been set up to look into the allegations.
The statement indicated that Ugbe’s appointment took effect from Tuesday, August 22, and would run till a substantive Dean is elected for the faculty.
Ugbe would take up the responsibilities and duties associated with the office and also oversee the faculty’s academic programmes.
She would also foster a healthy relationship among students and staff.
